Paul Tweddell

Paul Twedell
Solicitor, Operations Manager and UNCAHP Project Manager

Paul graduated in Law (LLB) and Applied Finance (BAppFin) at Macquarie University in Sydney. He completed his Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (GDLP) at the College of Law and is admitted as a practising lawyer in Australia.

Prior to joining GAL, Paul worked at law firms in corporate law and immigration law, followed by working in animal welfare and protection at various organisations, international and local. He also works in abuse law for Shine Lawyers.

Maida Sabeta

Maida Sabeta
Fundraising Manager

Maida graduated a Master of Laws (LLM) from Sarajevo University in 2007. She has a 17-year-long career in animal protection and 4 years of environmental law work experience in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Maida worked for PETA Germany as a contract campaigner, Fur Free Alliance as a campaigner and liaison officer for Cruelty Free Europe on European Citizen Initiative, as well as for numerous international and national organizations. She has worked on many different, large-scale campaigns and projects, lobbying activities on various Eastern European and European laws, including drafting animal welfare and protection laws in Eastern Europe. Maida has developed strong skills in fundraising from the organizing of various events, conferences, campaigns, and projects, mainly in Eastern European countries.

Maria Cássio

Maria Cássio
Social Media and Content Manager

Maria holds a degree in Communication Design from the University of Algarve, Portugal, and a Master’s in Sustainability Science, Policy, and Society from the University of Maastricht, the Netherlands. Her master’s thesis focused on the role of legislation in protecting the Five Freedoms of animals in British factory farms.

With a solid background in communications, Maria has worked extensively in communications and contributed to research and volunteer efforts with a global sustainability NGO before joining GAL. Her passion lies in influencing animal welfare policy to drive governmental change for animal protection. At GAL, Maria manages social media content creation and contributes articles to the organization's blog.

Monika Maglesheva

Monika Maglesheva

Monika is finalizing her MSc in Business Informatics at the School of Economics and Business, University of Ljubljana, where she also completed her BSc in Marketing.

She brings valuable experience from internships at high-tech startups, including a Swiss drone software firm and an AI-driven healthcare chatbot company, alongside junior roles in business development, sales, and digital marketing. This diverse background has provided her with a strong foundation in technology-focused marketing, strategic business development, and innovative problem-solving, which she now leverages in her role as Digital Marketing & Innovation Manager.
