Laura Jane Jackson
Solicitor in private practice & Consultant specialising in animal welfare
Laura has a degree in sociology and is also a qualified solicitor. She has acted as a lawyer in precedential human rights cases in the High Court and before the European Court of Human Rights in the UK. In particular she worked for the bereaved at the Grenfell Tower Inquiry and developed expertise in Court of Protection law. Laura remains a solicitor in private practise but also works freelance as a consultant specialising in animal welfare, for her own organisation, Moot & Herd. This provides an independent source of legal analysis, research, drafting and lobbying for animal welfare issues. Laura is an active member of the Association of Animal Lawyers in the UK, and a trustee for the Humane Research Trust, a charity working to replace animals in testing models and research. Laura is immensely passionate about all areas of animal welfare on a global scale, particularly the rights and protections afforded to those animals working in entertainment, and also the relationship between human and animal rights.
