Lorena Laprebende is a prominent Argentine lawyer and academic specializing in Animal Law and Family, Youth, and Adolescence Law. She is currently a Doctoral Candidate (Ph.D.) at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), where her research focuses on the "legal interest" of temporary caregivers for judicialized animals.

She serves as the Director of the Animal Rights Institute of the Lawyers Association of San Martín (Buenos Aires) and is a Professor of Contract and Environmental Law at Universidad Empresarial Siglo 21. Lorena is an active member of the Cambridge Centre for Animal Law Network (CEAL), the CULIVIAN Research Group at the University of Valencia, and the Veterinary Network in Catastrophes.

A dedicated advocate for the legal personhood of sentient beings, she co-drafted the 2025 Amendment to the Rioplatense Declaration of Animal Rights. She is a frequent international speaker, with an upcoming presentation at the International Congress in Lima, Peru (March 2026), discussing the intersection of innovation, justice, and animal rights.
