Kim J. McCoy
Barrister & Founder of Hong Kong Animal Law and Protection Organisation (HKALPO)
Kim J McCoy is a practising barrister in both Hong Kong and New Zealand and is the Founder of the Hong Kong Animal Law and Protection Organisation (HKALPO – www.hkalpo.com). He holds both a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) from the University of Otago, New Zealand.
HKLAPO brings together lawyers, law students and other professional members of the community who have a shared passion for animals, to work together to improve the welfare and lives of animals. We aim to achieve this by advocating for their interests through the legal system by securing more thorough and protective laws and better enforcement of existing animal welfare law.
Kim has a keen interest in the intersection between criminal and public/administrative law with animal law, as well as wildlife crime both locally and internationally. He is also a member of the New Zealand Animal Law Association (NZALA).
